Question: I was wondering what White Collar‘s final-season storyline will be about. —Michael
Ausiello: Sounds like a Q perfectly tailored to the show’s perfectly tailored leading man Matt Bomer. “It revolves around the greatest crime ring in the world, which is a group that actually exists, called The Pink Panthers,” he explains. “Neal is trying to become a mole in their organization in order to get his freedom from the FBI. Old characters come back and new characters are introduced. Drama ensues.”
TVLINE | How is filming going on White Collar? Does it feel different being the last season?
Yeah. There’s this undercurrent of I don’t want to say sadness, but… What’s the French word…? We’re all having a blast working together. It’s just like old times like it’s always been, but underneath it all, we all know that we’re going to have to say goodbye. We’re all dreading that moment because we have been such a close-knit unit for six years. So it’ll be sad to say goodbye. All good things must come to an end!
Any word on White Collar Season 6? —Linda
Series boss Jeff Eastin told me that while he was at first a “little disappointed” by the six-episode order, “What we ultimately realized was we had just enough time to do one really good story, so this year there’s really no ‘Case of the Week.’ This year it’s really going to focus on character, and the relationships, and moving that forward in a real nice sort of ‘limited series.’”
Please tell me Hilarie Burton will come back for final season of White Collar. One episode is all I need. – Simona
I’m sticking by my previous reportage — that Sara is not set to resurface during the USA series’ farewell run. That said, Matt Bomer teases that within the last six episodes, “There is a little [time for romance], but I’m not going to tell you too much about it!” P.S. Thanks for the Jack Wagner /”All I Need”earworm, Simona!
The industry veteran, who passed away at home on Friday, played memorable supporting characters on film and TV.
James Rebhorn, the busy character actor who played the father of Claire Danes’ troubled CIA officer Carrie Mathison on the Showtime drama Homeland, has died. He passed away at his home on Friday, his agent Dianne Busch confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter. He was 65.
Rebhorn also had a recent recurring role on the USA Network hit White Collar as Special Agent Reese Hughes, head of the FBI’s Manhattan white-collar crime unit.

One of USA Network‘s signature series, drama White Collar, is poised to wrap its run with a six-episode sixth and final season. There is no official word yet, but I hear the network and series producer Fox TV Studios are finalizing the deal. The size of the order looks like a compromise between a movie/mini-series conclusion USA had been considering and a full-length season, sought by producer FfvS. Season 5 ended with a cliffhanger involving the abduction of Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer). All of USA’s other established series — Monk, Burn Notice (also produced by FtvS), Psych and In Plain Sight — also had received a proper send-off. Moved to fall for the first time since its first season, White Collar got dinged up against in-season competition but rebounded in January when the conclusion of Season 5 averaged 2.8 million viewers in Live+Same Day, up 22% from fall, and 955,000 adults 18-49, up 32%.
This week’s episode of White Collar is capped and in the gallery.
